School's Back (and so is Best in Blog - Come Link Up!)

What can be sweeter than a kiss between cousins? Or time spent with family who live far away?
Last week Best in Blog took a holiday and so did I.
Our family headed down to the snow at Mt Ruapehu where we met up with our lovely cousins - my brother and his family from Spain (who returned to New Zealand after years away, only settle at the other end of the North Island.)
When hubby got the chance of two nights in Taupo at a house large enough for two families, we jumped at the chance to meet up with our cuzzies (Taupo being halfway between Auckland and Wellington).
It was loud. None of us seem to breed quiet little mice.
Our kids are all high energy, every one a comedian, a dancer and a wrestler.
I mean, my brother actually traveled through Italy with a circus for a while, so it shouldn't be surprising aye?

[Lake Taupo is the size of Singapore]
School holidays were, for the most part, enjoyable. We used our saved-up stickers to see Brave () and Ice Age 4 (  ) at the movies. We went bowling and had movie nights. There was even a Brilliant Baking Birthday Party for Miss Fab, who is all-but-eight.

We got to hang out with our special friends who are living in China, and then had to wave goodbye to them sadly again. We are consoled only by the fact that in just eight weeks Miss Fab and I will take a Mother-Daughter trip all the way to China to see them. Two whole weeks to do coffee and tell stories. Two whole weeks of sleepovers and shopping. (Maxabella, watch out for the SQUEEEEEE!)

I haven't quite got my head around the fact that my baby girl is nearly eight years old. Eight is so big!
Big enough to have pierced ears, in fact...

We'd talked about getting Miss Fab's ears pierced when she turned eight, but hadn't quite decided. On a spur of the moment shopping trip, just me and her, I asked her if she wanted to get them done. She almost shot through the roof with excitement. Skipped beside me, bouncing and squeezing my hand.
When the piercing gun went off, she didn't even flinch. She's amazingly brave, that girl.
And very diligent about putting the solution on her ears morning and night. Six weeks of gold studs and then the world of pretty earrings is her oyster.
She's growing up so fast.

The Best of You from Last Time
Getting back to business, here are my favourite posts from the last Best in Blog linky...

First up, is SophieSlim's post about the Sisterhood being published in the paper. The whole Love Bomb thing has totally inspired me. If you're a Kiwi reader, have you heard about it yet? You might want to become a Sister and join us...

Next, I was moved by Entirely Emily's post: What Do I Do with My Kids All Day? I really related to her question and her worry, as one mum to another. It's a subject I've written about on a number of occasions, including for Parenting Magazine (Confessions of a Lazy mother). Mummy-guilt is so common - and so awful.

Finally, I loved Nikki's post about noticing the small things. This really tickled me, because a few weeks back I spent a week deliberately noticing, at a time when I had run out of inspiration. After a few days the creative juices were flowing again... taking time to find joy in the small things is powerful.

How to join in with my "Best in Blog" linky.
The "Best in Blog" Linky opens at 7am every Monday (NZ time*) and closes midnight Friday.
You don't have to write a special post, or take a photo on a theme or anything that requires extra work...
All you have to do is pick your favourite post from the past week (the one you are most proud of) and share it with us. I will feature my favourites on next week's Best in Blog.

Just one thing you need to do before you link up... Can you please dress your post with this pretty button I've made so your readers can find our linky too?

Best in Blog Linky

Thankyou kindly!

(Oh, and please leave us a comment telling us why you picked this one... even if it was because it was your only one, hahaha!)

*For some of you US readers, that will be sometime on Sunday!
