At the Seaside

We managed to recover enough from our jetlag to take advantage of the lovely weather and head to the Cullercoats seaside for a picnic. Here's Dash with a friend he found...

We built sandcastles... (and knocked them down again)

We played soccer and badminton and chasies with Aunty Irene,
Uncle Allan and Grandma...

Princess and Aunty Irene climbed the sea wall...

Scrag found some melted chocolate biscuits...

...which he kindly shared with his sister...

We all got sand between our toes but Princess also picked up a large splinter (which required a visit to the medical clinic, some local anaesthetic and antibiotics... but hey, that's Princess isn't it??)

After some lovely fish'n'chips eaten outdoors, we got icecream and headed to the St Mary's lighthouse...

...the lighthouse can only be reached at low tide, so lucky for us!

We climbed to the top... yes, me too! It was a long way, and afterwards my legs were like jelly.
But I tried not to show it because Dash has been saying to me, "Mum, you need to run around or you will end up in the hospital!!" (his way of convincing me to play soccer - yes I did that too)

Finally the kids explored some rock pools. Dash found some frosted sea glass, which he has big plans for.

A lovely, perfect day - topped off with a family BBQ at Aunty Irene's (and a great night's sleep!)
